Jonathan Lee Recruitment has partnered with Harper Adams University for third year, offering practical advice to undergraduates about securing their first job.

Business development manager David Woakes, with support from recruitment consultants Gemma Pooler and James Tilley, presented to students and academic staff.

Their presentation covered how to create a structured and successful CV in addition to the recruitment process after a CV has been sent. David Woakes commented "It is an invaluable opportunity for students to really understand the processes behind finding their first professional job. For many this will be the first time they've experienced job boards and recruitment agencies, so to understand the basics is essential”.  James Tilley added “As engineering, technical and manufacturing recruitment specialists, it is refreshing to see how Harper Adams’ applied courses have prepared students, strengthening their employability skills and providing the best assistance in securing their chosen career within engineering."

Recruitment consultant Gemma Pooler commented "I'm really impressed with the capability, ambition and proactive approach of students to building their work experience portfolio - some even completing international placements outside of term-time. We are certain that our presentation and CV clinic will help students to stand out from the crowd."

Joe Allin, who has been completing his MEng Agricultural Engineering at Harper Adams commented on the day’s event by saying "The session from Jonathan Lee Recruitment helped me to refine my CV, it's a great help getting guidance from the people in the know especially when employers’ requirements are always changing. The overview of assessment centres was also really useful as we don't get any opportunity to experience these until we are at a company".

Adam Montgomery, MEng Agricultural Engineering student felt the session would help the students and found the experience truly invaluable.  “As a Harper Adams student much focus has already been placed on my personal development and preparation for the working World and this recruitment session really helped me understand what employers are looking for and how to present myself. Not only did the session provide useful up to date information on applying for jobs in the engineering sector, but it also provided tutoring on what to expect during assessment centres and interviews. This not only made me feel confident about the skills and training that I have gained at Harper Adams but also gave me the reassurance that, with the help of Jonathan Lee Recruitment, finding the right graduate position would be easier. The Jonathan Lee team were very approachable and willing to not only give general advice but to also read and help develop my CV to ensure it is as effective as possible. I look forward to using Jonathan Lee Recruitment to find a graduate role in July 2016."
