Local SMEs collaborate with the next generation of engineers at the University of Birmingham
Jonathan Lee Recruitment supported last years event that saw over 400 students discover more about graduate roles, summer internships and year placements. Similarly to last year, under-graduates will be able to speak directly to local SMEs and medium sized employers who are keen to find the next generation of engineers.
The event will provide an invaluable platform to help bridge the engineering skills shortage. According to Engineering UKs 2015 The State of Engineering report, published last month, on an annual basis there is currently a shortfall of 55,000 skilled workers.
David Woakes, Business Development Manager at Jonathan Lee Recruitment, who will be attending the event explains: It is important that industry collaborates with universities and the next generation of engineers. Careers fairs are one important element of many that help to address the shortage of engineering skills.
I look forward to speaking with students from the University of Birmingham, providing careers advice and utilising my 27 years experience within various engineering sectors to offer an understanding of the technological and engineering career routes available.
