We are looking forward to support the University of Birmingham’s Careers CareersLab Spring Recruitment Fair this week. Students from the Engineering and Physical Science, Life and Environmental Sciences and Medical and Dental Sciences faculties will attend the event that takes place on Thursday 12 February 2015.

Jonathan Lee Recruitment supported last year’s event that saw over 400 students discover more about graduate roles, summer internships and year placements. Similarly to last year, under-graduates will be able to speak directly to local SMEs and medium sized employers who are keen to find the next generation of engineers.

The event will provide an invaluable platform to help bridge the engineering skills shortage. According to Engineering UK’s ‘2015 The State of Engineering’ report, published last month, on an annual basis there is currently a shortfall of 55,000 skilled workers.

David Woakes, Business Development Manager at Jonathan Lee Recruitment, who will be attending the event explains: “It is important that industry collaborates with universities and the next generation of engineers. Careers fairs are one important element of many that help to address the shortage of engineering skills.”

“I look forward to speaking with students from the University of Birmingham, providing careers advice and utilising my 27 years’ experience within various engineering sectors to offer an understanding of the technological and engineering career routes available”.
